Some people are so concerned with themselves, they do not have time too look around and see how lucky they are. Today, we are officially announcing the first operation of The Hunger Bank in Jakarta. While we are so excited, we are pretty much nervous because none of us truly understand Jakarta and its slum area.

We had a huge donation from Parahyangan Law Debate Community, they are supporting us with funds and we manage to have more than 50 rice boxes to be distributed for the poor. Our target mainly is the scavengers, or "gerobak" people - which are the homeless people who live in their gerobak every day. It isn't easy at first because some people look like they are poor but they are actually just put it out for the sake of begging money. We want to look for the right target, the people who really needs help and actually doing something instead of begging for money. We are told that in Pasar Senen area, there are many scavengers and poor people who really needs food. And it is true, we met a lot of garbage man and scavengers around that area.

After that, we went to the sideways of a train rail. There were so many of them because there was a huge garbage dumpster near that area. Some people even ask for our food even though we don't want to give it to them. We are very much surprised to see this, because in Bandung we never come across this situation. So we politely refused and said that these are for donations. Luckily, everything still went smoothly and we could distribute it to the right people. We hope that this activity becomes a great start for another The Hunger Bank operations in Jakarta! And we could not thank PLDC enough for their donations, we are very touched and highly appreciate their efforts in saving up some money to help the people in need. Not many student organizations care about this kind of stuff. But they do, and people like them are the reason we want to build The Hunger Bank in the very first place.

Thank you, again! Your good deeds will not go unpunished.
