At 10 May 2016, Parahyangan University held Malam Keluarga Unpar (Unpar's Family Night), supported by UKM BBQ and Captain's Seafood. This event was aimed to strengthen the bond among Unparian's students and also to have fun with dinner and entertainment provided. Of course, the event was a huge success.

However, the event also left huge amount of excessive food from buffet, like fried rice, fried chicken, noodle, etc. So one of the committee contacted us to pick up the food. It was a struggle, because the amount of food is overwhelming, and we decided to re-cook the food to make it warm and more tasty before distributing it to the poor. It was pretty late already, at 10 PM we just picked up the food and cooked it in one of our member's house. But since the cooking utensils were limited, we spent almost 2 hours just to re-cook everything. We're worried that there will be no one around to distribute the food to.

But to our surprise, we met with a lot of homeless that we've never seen in the area before. It turned out that the later the night, the more homeless came and set up a 'tent' from cardboard and they slept on the floor, some with cardboards as their layers. It was so coldddd, we all had our jackets and hoodies on, but these people have to live in the streets, with no blanket, no bed, no pillow. And yet some of them slept very soundly. These kind of things are the things that push us to start the Hunger Bank in the very first place. Imagine, living in the same city, in the same area, probably just next door to us, and yet we live in the high-end apartment with comfy bedding, warm blankets, pillow, and food as much as we want. These people, they rely on their cardboard, they even have family in their cart, and they have to sleep in such conditions every day, without knowing how and when the situation could get better.

That night, all of us lied down in our bed feeling grateful for everything that we took for granted. And we know, although one portion of food may not be significant for them, we hope that we can meet more people like them and help them to the best of our abilities. Thank you Makelu 2016, Captain's Seafood, and UKM BBQ Unpar! You have made an outstanding contribution and we look forward to collaborate further with you.

Here are some pictures of our collab, to remind you, never again complaining about your bed, your room, your house. Never again!
